GoWatchIt.com and the Sundance Film Festival

We have some cool news about GoWatchIt and the Sundance Film Festival, which starts today, that I hope you  will find of interest.  On almost every movie page (on line and mobile) on the Sundance Film Guide,   online and mobile,  there is a “Watch It” button that let’s folks save movies they are interested in to their GoWatchIt queues and get alerts when these great Sundance films will be finally available to watch on in theaters, and on VOD and all the OTT services like Amazon Instant, iTunes, etc.  We are psyched that Sundance has given us even better positioning on their site than Facebook or Twitter.

“GoWatchIt helps audiences connect with films they’re excited to see and helps bridge the gap of waiting for it to become available more widely. It complements the work Sundance Institute does year-round to support the independent film community in connecting with audiences,” said Joseph Beyer, Director of Digital Initiatives, Sundance Institute.

Very useful, we hope, for folks who can’t make it to Utah, keep track of all the great films they hear about and to help build advance audience for films that premier at Sundance but won’t be available for months afterwards.

For example: http://filmguide.sundance.org/film/13086/jobs     (look for WatchIt on the upper right)

So if you find any films from the Festival you think people should see, you can blog, tweet and FB it, and  include a link to the Sundance Film Guide page and have them set a Watch It alert - we will let them know when they can see it.

We present our first “Trailer Showdown” where each week you vote on which buzzworthy trailer you like the best. This week we have two films that are already generating Oscar talk: Hitchcock (starring Anthony Hopkins as the acclaimed director), and Flight (Robert Zemeckis’ return to live-action, with Denzel Washington as an alternate reality Capt. Sully). Watch the trailers below, vote on which you think is the best, and let us know if you’ll be watching either films.

“I knew he’d be good, but I can’t say that I expected what we got. I love watching him, and I get the impression people don’t understand that there’s actually a truly inventive and disciplined actor there, which I guess is great. I would hate to say too much and uncover the mystery.” - Paul Thomas Anderson

This past summer our 16th President kicked vampire butt, but this winter Spielberg will take us on a more historically accurate journey (that is, as historically accurate as Hollywood can get). Here’s the much anticipated trailer. Will you watch?
